The Kahnawà:ke Labor Office (KLO) certification and competency divison is a program created for construction workers on the territory of Kahnawà:ke, through the Kahnawà:ke Trades Certification Program (KTCP).  The KLO will develop, maintain and administer a comprehensive process for certification and qualifications for workers in the construction industry on the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke. The program includes the assessment of workers’ education, training, qualifications experience in a specific trade or trades, the issuance of certificates of competency and conducting inspections of workers on the territory.

The KTCP will certify Kahnawà:ke contractors to standards developed by the Kahnawà:ke Labor Office confirming the knowledge and experience of the contractor in the specific category. This will be done through standards developed by the Kahnawà:ke Labor Office (KLO “Level 1: Qualification Certificate), and developing different levels of qualifications based on the knowledge and experience required of a contractor in a specific industry or trade, and certifying them by confirming the knowledge and experience of the contractor in a specific trade. It will also address Kahnawà:ke contractors as being a local business entity.

Definitions of all trades and minimum hours required to qualify for certification are listed in the KTCP Construction Trades Criteria and Wage Schedules for Workers on the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke.

Please note: The Kahnawà:ke Trades Qualification Program (KTQP) and the Kahnawà:ke Labor Competency Program (KLCP) no longer exist and is being replaced by the Kahnawà:ke Trades Certification Program (KTCP). For those workers holding either cards, the process for updating will be announced in the near future.
